Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has reacted to the reports of bringing referees from other countries to officiate in the English Premier League.

The Gunners boss in a pre-match statement ahead of his side game Vs Chelsea on Tuesday, suggested that the Premier League has been open to everything since there are players, coaches and owners from different countries in the Premier League.

He said:

“We have to be open to everything, so we have owners from everywhere, directors, from everywhere, managers, players, I don’t know. I think we have to look in-house, I think there is already a very strong programme to develop referees, because it was something that was already explained which would take to process. They are on it, we’re not going to make that decision, it’s a decision for them to understand who is the best to take charge of it.”

Also reacted to how fair referees are selected for games, Arteta said:
“I don’t know, we aren’t involved in that. I’m sure they’re doing whatever they think is the best solution, the best process and it’s constantly in review. Everything that we do is evolving and is in constant evolution. They will try to get it better and better and I’m certain that will happen.”
