Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has reacted to Chelsea, alongside other top clubs that splash millions on players during transfer windows.

According to the Gunners boss, such move is a short sample as buying expensive players doesn’t guarantee that they would win trophies.

When asked on if spending money guarantees success, Arteta said:

“I think that’s a very short sample, because if you look at the history of the Premier League in the last 20 years, at the clubs that have spent the most and what has happened, I think there is a big relation. So depending on how you look at it.”

Amid Chelsea woes this season despite signing a new manager in the person of Mauricio Pochettino, Arteta believe the Blues will come good eventually.

He said: “I’m convinced they will. With that squad? Yes. And with the manager they have? Yes.”

When asked if he would like to have one billion pounds to spend in the transfer window, the Gunners boss said:
“Depends. I like a lot what I have. And I’m very pleased with that.”
