Liverpool legend reveals youngster will struggle for game time under Jurgen Klopp
Liverpool legend John Barnes has insisted that the chances of Harvey Elliott playing regularly at Anfield next season is slim despite his successful loan spell at Blackburn Rovers.
Harvey Elliot was among the list of Liverpool players sent out on loan last season to gain more experience, and he proved himself at Blackburn Rovers.
The youngster appeared 41 times Blackburn in the Championship, scoring seven goals while also laying on eleven assists for his teammates.
His performance has led to some fans calling on Jurgen Klopp to give him a chance with the first team.
However, Barnes, while speaking with BettingOdds.com, noted that the youngster might be forced to go out on loan again.
Barnes stated that he had seen Harvey Elliott a lot when he was playing at Liverpool, and he knows what a good player he is.
However, it’s not feasible that he will play in one of those front three positions for Liverpool.
According to Barnes, just because Phil Foden has done it at Manchester City and he’s English doesn’t mean that every good player who is young and English will break into the top teams.
Barnes added that if Elliot wants to come back next year and be a squad player, then that’s fine, but even though he’s had a good season at Blackburn, he will not come back to Liverpool and push for regular football.
