World Cup 2022: Brazil coach quit
Brazil head coach Tite has ended his services with the national team after their unexpected elimination from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The Selecao, who were tipped as one of the favourites to win this year’s trophy lost 4-2 to Croatia in a penalty shoot-out, after their last-16 tie ended in a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes.
Speaking after the game, Tite said it was “the end of my cycle”.
The 61-year-old took charge of the Brazilian national squad in 2016 when he replaced Dunga.
The former Corinthians manager managed 81 matches, winning 60 of those contests.
Brazil are now looking to regroup ahead of the 2026 World Cup, which will be a 48-team extravaganza held in North America.
In another news, Croatia, who have qualified for the semi-finals will now face Argentina.
