Why Sesko joined Leipzig over Man Utd
Slovenia star Benjamin Sesko, in a statement, has opened up on why he joined RB Leipzig despite interest from Manchester United in the summer.
Sesko revealed he took the ‘better’ decision to join the Bundesliga club over a move to Old Trafford.
Recall that the Slovenian forward was on Man United’s shortlist as manager Erik ten Hag was keen on signing a new striker in the summer transfer window.
However, the Red Devils were not able to follow up on their interest in the 20-year-old and opted to sign Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta in a £72 million deal.
Sesko, went on to seal a £20.6million move to RB Leipzig in the summer after the deal with Red Bull Salzburg was initially agreed in 2022.
When asked about Man United’s interest, Sesko told Transfermarkt: “The thing is, I was not really involved in these kinds of conversations.
“But I think it was better to come here.
“It was very important for me to go to a place that plays a similar style of football.
“I already knew what I had to do and didn’t have to go through a whole learning process again.”
