UCL: Tuchel gives Chelsea injury update ahead of game vs. Man City
The UEFA champions League final is scheduled to take place this weekend between two English sides, Man City and Chelsea.
Recall that the final was earlier scheduled to take place in Istanbul Turkey, however, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the venue was shifted to Porto, Portugal.
Ahead of the clash, Chelsea coach, Thomas Tuchel had given injury update on two of his players, Eduard Mendy and N’Golo Kante.
Tuchel revealed the two players will be available for their match vs. Man City on Saturday.
Recall that Kante sustained a hamstring issue vs.s Leicester City, while goalkeeper Mendy came off at half-time against Aston Villa on Sunday with a rib problem.
While speaking on Kante’s injury, Tuchel in a pre-final press conference on Monday said: “He looks good and I hope he stays like that.
We will just put him in training when the game starts on Saturday and not speak to doctors and physios or changing tactics. Sounds good to me.”
Mendy, who was replaced by Kepa Arrizabalaga at Villa Park, is set to be back in training on Wednesday.
“The update is we still have hope he joins training on Wednesday and the group.
“He made a huge improvement with the management of pain. So we need a further update on Wednesday but we hope to have him back,” Tuchel added.
