Terry names Chelsea’s next big star

Former Chelsea star John Terry has tipped Alfie Gilchrist to become the next big star at Stamford Bridge.

Terry applauded Gilchrist after he made his Premier League debut as the centre-back for Chelsea in their 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on Wednesday.

The 20-year-old came on as a late substitute for Benoit Badiashile.

“Alfie Gilchrist, he is a really really good player. He’s got an unbelievable attitude,” Terry said via (h/t Daily Mail).

“He’s been at the club since the age of eight. He performs so well on a daily basis, does everything right. I think he’s got a good chance.”

Terry added: “I think we spoke about the young players going on loan and I think Alfie’s next step is to go on loan next season and then you should see how he does.

“I am expecting big things from Alf, expecting him to play hopefully a game or two as the season goes on.”
