Premier League: How Chelsea could line up against Crystal Palace

Published

on

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel just has one absentee to contend with for his side’s outing to Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace in Saturday’s Premier League battle.

Thiago Silva was shown red card after only 29 minutes in their embarrassing loss to West Bromwich Albion last time out, and the defender will serve a one-match suspension this end of the week.

Subsequently, Thomas Tuchel could choose similar back three that started and kept a perfect sheet against Porto on Wednesday, however with the German’s policy of rotation prone to strike, Kurt Zouma will want to feature from the off at Selhurst Park.

Antonio Rudiger was involved with a bust up with Kepa Arrizabalaga at the end of the week, however Tuchel has confirmed the differences has been settled, so the German centre back could find himself in the starting XI again.

N’Golo Kante was adequately fit to come off the bench against Porto and could replace Jorginho in the central midfield, while Callum Hudson-Odoi and Marcos Alonso could feature out wide instead of Reece James and Ben Chilwell.

Chelsea attacker Mason Mount struck his first Champions League goal for the club in midweek, however he might be rested considering the second leg, so Hakim Ziyech is a contender to feature in the attack alongside the returning Christian Pulisic.

Timo Werner persevered through one of his unproductive nights in midweek and may just be considered for a put on the bench, as Tammy Abraham – at last fit after an inconvenient ankle injury – and Olivier Giroud battle for the opportunity to start up top.
