No matter who is in charge at Chelsea they will need to break the bank to sign this player

Following Frank Lampard sack at Chelsea, West Ham coach, David Moyes has declared that any club willing to sign Declan Rice will have to break the bank.

Before Lampard’s sack, the Blues were among the top clubs in the race to sign Rice from West Ham in the summer transfer window.

However, the transfer deal didn’t materialise then owing to the high transfer fee fixed by West Ham.

While many believe the sack of Lampard might make Chelsea lose interest in signing Rice, Moyes has however stated that no matter who is in charge at Stamford Bridge it would take the “Bank of England money” and “Bank of Scotland” money on top of that to sign Rice.

When Moyes was asked if his fears of losing Rice had eased after Lampard’s exit at Stamford Bridge, he said: “No matter who was the manager at Chelsea, or whoever came in, it would have been the same answer.”

West Ham have stated that it would not accept anything less than £70million in any transfer deal for Rice, regardless of the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Chelsea are expected to announce a new coach ahead of their match against the Wolves in the Premier League on Wednesday.
