Napoli defender names Mendy the best goalkeeper in the world

Napoli defender and Senegal international Kalidou Kalibouli has named his fellow countryman and Chelsea goalie Edouard Mendy as the best in the world.

Koulibaly made this declaration while reacting to Senegal’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON victory vs Egypt on Sunday.

Senegal beat Egypt 4-2 in a penalty shootout to win their first AFCON in Cameroon.

Speaking at his post-match press conference, Koulibaly, who captained Senegal to defeat Egypt, said: “We feel happy.

“We knew it would be hard to win the Africa Cup of Nations, but today we made it.

“Our team deserved to win this title. We had been looking for this for a long time and now we have it. This team is magnificent.

“It was a tough game and a tough tournament. We made it with our team and our power.

“Our goalkeeper is the best in the world and we win the title.”

Mendy also won the award for the best goalkeeper from the tournament, which ended on Sunday.

The Blues goalie is expected to rejoin the rest of the squad in Abu Dhabi soon.
