Chelsea defender Recce James has been forced to undergo a scan on his knee ahead of the congestive Christmas period fixtures ahead of the London club.

Reece James has become one of the most consistent Chelsea players in the past few weeks as his crossing into the box have been causing the Blues opponent a big headache.

The young Chelsea product has been putting in some impressive performance and as the Blues await a tough tie against West Ham United he has unlikely to be available for the match.

According to reports, James has been dealing with the pains on his knee for the past few weeks but has been shaking it off.

He played through the pain in Chelsea’s last two matches against Everton and Wolves but has been forced to check the knee as the pain became unbearable during the last training.

On Saturday, the 21-year-old felt greater pain and fluid in his knee during training and the results of the scan will determine if he will play a part against West Ham at Stamford Bridge.

If he misses the match, Blues captain Cesar Azpilicueta will make a return to the starting lineup having lost his spot to the young full back.
