FA Cup: I feel for Jackson – Lampard expresses concern after Chelsea loss

Former Chelsea star and manager, Frank Lampard has expressed sympathy for striker Nicolas Jackson after he missed several goal chances against Manchester City in the FA Cup on Saturday.

Recall that a fatigued Man City side managed to defeat Chelsea 1-0 in the FA Cup semi-final clash at Wembley on Saturday.

Jackson was unable to score a goal against City as Bernardo Silva scored the only goal to push the Citizens to the FA Cup final.

Lampard in a post-match statement suggested that the Senegal international did not perform at the level Chelsea need for their leading striker.

“I feel for him a little bit because he made lots of good movement, he is a young striker, the attributes we saw in him today where he is racing Kyle Walker, he is shown pace, he’s shown good movement but there’s a technical detail there.

“The extra touch, the decision making at the highest level in these highest level of games are the difference,” Lampard said as quoted by Metro UK.

“The header, you hit anywhere but his body it’s a goal. Little decision making, I feel for him, we’ve all been there, we’ve all missed chances and it’s a critical one for the game.

“But as a young player that’s the level that you have to be a striker for Chelsea.”
