Chelsea suffer transfer blow in bid to sign Villarreal star
Chelsea have been handed a transfer blow in their bid to sign Villarreal star Nico Jackson this summer.
This comes as they were hit by a complication over the player’s release clause.
The Blues had reached a personal agreement with Jackson and manager Mauricio Pochettino considered the Senegalese star as a solution to Chelsea’s attack issues.
However, to get the deal done Villarreal want Chelsea to pay Jackson’s €35m release clause in full upfront.
A report via Relevo revealed the West London club were trying to pay the fee in instalments instead, which has led to a complication.
It is no longer news that Chelsea are desperate to sign a new forward ahead of the 2023-2024 season especially as Kai Havertz is now close to completing a move to Arsenal.
Jackson scored 12 goals across 26 games for Villarreal in the Spanish La Liga last season.
