Chelsea new owner ready to let Striker leave

Chelsea’s new co-owner Todd Boehly is set to let Timo Werner leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

According to talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook. Boehly is ready to sell Werner this summer in order to make moves for new players.

So far under their new owners, Chelsea have been able to sign Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly from Man City and Napoli, respectively.

Crook believes the American owner wants to offload some of the Blues’ top earners, having lost the race to sign Raphina and Jules Kounde.

According to Football.London, Chelsea will accept offers for the German striker, who has failed to impress since joining them in a £45m move from Leipzig two years ago.

Werner earns £272,000 per week at the west London club with little to show for the high wage, as he only 10 goals to his name in 56 Premier League games.

Crook told GIVEMESPORT: I think Boehly is looking to get rid of him, along with a lot of the high earners.

“I think Boehly would rather keep players like Levi Colwill and Armando Broja and build for the future and cash in on people like Werner, [Callum Hudson Odoi], who haven’t lived up to expectations, [Ross] Barkley and maybe even N’Golo Kante.”
