Chelsea consider signing Barcelona midfielder

With N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic gone, Chelsea are likely to sign a new midfielder before the summer transfer window closes.

Owing to this, the Blues are considering a move for out-of-favour Barcelona star, Franck Kessie with manager Mauricio Pochettino a fan of the midfielder, Relevo reports.

Chelsea are in need of a new midfielder, who is a defence-conscious player to partner Enzo Fernandez in the midfield.

While their priority is to sign Brighton’s Moises Caicedo, the West London side have so far failed to reach an agreement with Brighton for the Ecuadorian star.

However, should a deal for Caicedo prove too expensive or hard to pull off, the Blues might look at cheaper alternatives and Kessie, who Pochettino once tried to sign when he was at Tottenham Hotspur may be the man for the job.

Kessie is considered surplus to the requirements at Camp Nou, and the Catalan club are set to sell him to any interested buyer.
