Carabao League: Tuchel reveals only Jorginho will be available vs Brentford
Chelsea will return to action on Wednesday night in the Carabao league tournament when they face Brentford.
Ahead of the game, Chelsea manager and Germany international Thomas Tuchel has revealed that only Jorginho will be the only senior player available for the match.
Chelsea played without eight players during their Sunday’s Premier League fixture at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
At some point, they made moves to get the match postponed after the majority of their players tested positive for coronavirus, but the EPL rejected the request.
The situation, combined with Brentford’s outbreak, has placed the quarter-final clash at risk of whether it will hold according to schedule or not.
But with the look of things as at the time of this report, the match will go ahead as planned.
While Tuchel has confirmed that Jorginho will be available for the match, he added that the Italian midfielder would likely play as a direct replacement for Trevoh Chalobah.
Speaking to players at a press conference, Tuchel said: “No players will be returning from apart from Jorginho. He had a negative test, so it was obviously a wrong-positive. He is back in training.
“Andreas Christensen is very doubtful through injury, and so is Trevoh Chalobah.”
