19-year-old wins Chelsea goal of the Month for August

Carney Chukwuemeka has emerged as the winner of the Chelsea Goal of the Month award for August.

Chukwuemeka won the award ahead of the likes of Raheem Sterling, Nicolas Jackson, Zak Sturge and Leo Castledine to the award.

The youngster’s superb goal in the West London 3-1 defeat against West Ham United was overwhelmingly voted for by the fans.

A highlight from the match was the moment the talented midfielder wriggled through the West Ham defence in the 28th minute before unleashing a powerful shot beyond Alphonse Areola’s reach.

While Chukwuemeka won with 61 per cent of the vote, Sterling came second with 31 per cent votes.

As of now, 19-year-old Chukwuemeka is currently on the sideline with a hamstring injury.

Hopefully, he could regain his fitness after the ongoing international break.
