Arteta sends message to Ramsdale ahead of new goalie arrival
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has sent a message to the club’s goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale on what to expect next season.
Arteta warned Ramsdale to expect competition in the goalpost as a deal for Brentford’s David Raya draws close.
So far, Ramsdale has been Arsenal’s first-choice stopper for two seasons now.
But Arteta is set to add Raya to his squad before the summer transfer window closes as they are keen to compete next season, having finished in second spot behind Man City last season.
During the Gunners’ recent Community Shield win over Man City on Sunday, Ramsdale was able to make two fantastic saves during 90 minutes and saved a penalty.
When asked after the game if Ramsdale will be feeling pressure due to the Raya speculation, Arteta said: “I hope not, because the competition here always exists whoever it is and that’s what he has to feel like.
“If we don’t feel like this, we are not going to get the best out of each player, so we better feel like this and make sure that we all feel like this, me first.”
