Why Liverpool’s deal for Diogo Jota is the Premier League’s best signing of the season

Former football star turn pundit, Michael Owen in a recent statement has declared that Liverpool made the best deal this season in the Premier League by signing Diogo Jota.

Liverpool completed the contract deal for Jota in the summer transfer window back in September when they paid £45 million to Wolves.

He however, turned out to be one of their most resourceful players this season.

The Portugal international already has nine goals in 15 appearances to his name for the Premier League champions.

At some point, Jurgen Klopp was advised to start the 23-year-old regularly ahead of Brazil international, Roberto Firmino, Klopp however refused as he stated that Firmino remains a key player in his squad.

Owen, however, believes his former club sealed the best deal in the summer transfer window by bringing Jota to Anfield.

‘No one could’ve predicted that he would hit the ground running like he has,’ Owen told BT Sport.

He’s surprised me with his pace, I must admit. I think he’s far quicker than I gave him credit for. Against Atalanta he was electric.

‘He just shows composure, a lot of people panic, they just get a shot off as soon as they get any form of space.

‘I just think he’s scored headers, right foot, left foot, he’s scored everything so far and he’s looked the real deal in terms of linking play.

‘Nobody could have envisaged the quality that he’s shown so far.’
