Why Eriksen wouldn’t be a starter at Man Utd

Man Utd legend Rio Ferdinand has spoken on what could happen to Christian Eriksen if his transfer to the club pulls through.

Eriksen, whose contract recently ended with Brentford has reportedly reached a verbal agreement with the Red Devils and is expected to sign a three-year contract at the club.

The Red Devils are in need of a midfielder following the departure of Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata, and Jesse Lingard this summer.

Ferdinand, however, believes former Tottenham and Inter Milan star would not be a starter for Man Utd as they already have Bruno Fernandes, who is playing the same role as his.

“I think Christian Eriksen is a squad player. He doesn’t come as a starter, I would be very surprised if he comes into Manchester United as a starter,” Ferdinand told Five.

“I think he’ll come in and play a particular role in and around it.

“The position he is likely to occupy will be similar to Bruno Fernandes and I don’t see him taking him out of the team.”
