UEFA opens up on why the desire for a new league died

Football body, UEFA in a latest statement has opened on why the decision to float a new league died.

President of the Europe’s football governing body, Aleksander Ceferin, spoke on the ongoing face-off between UEFA and the clubs pushing for the Super League’s formation.

The UEFA boss said that currently no team, apart from Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus, are willing to join in the Super League project.

“I will say that UEFA is not a monopoly,” Ceferin told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“You are free to be in it or not. You can participate in our cups or organise your own. But then, it’s logical that you don’t play in ours, isn’t it?

“Whatever the decision of the court, nothing changes – the Super League is dead because nobody wants to participate. I only see three people [Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus] angry with everyone, taking everyone to court,” he said.
