MANCHESTER UNITED were offered the opportunity to sign Porto left-back Alex Telles for £22.7m, as per reports.

United are interested to bolster the left side of their defence by acquiring another full-back to give Luke Shaw more competition.

What’s more, as indicated by Duncan Castles, Alex Telles was one choice – in spite of the fact that Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in signing the defender.

He told the Transfer Window Podcast: [Manchester United] have been searching for a left-sided, left-footed defender and a left-back, or a full-back of some sort, ideally a left-footed left-back.

Alex Telles was a stand-out performer last season as Porto secured a Primeira Liga and Portuguese Cup double.

Furthermore, for a defender he had unbelievable details of scoring 13 goals and enlisting 12 assists.

Porto are supposed to be happy to capitalize on Alex Telles present transfer window with his contract up toward the end of the season – in spite of the fact that Chelsea are not interested in signing the defender after snapping up Ben Chilwell from Leicester City.

Luke Shaw has been struggling with injuries and fluctuating form, Brandon Williams was promoted into the first team at Old Trafford last season.

The academy graduate, 20, piled on 36 appearances last season and signed another contract at his boyhood club in August.

The Red Devils have also been connected with Real Madrid’s Sergio Reguilon.

Sergio Reguilon spent last season on loan at Sevilla and earned his first international cap in the Nations League win over Ukraine.
