Chelsea prepared to make move for one of Championship’s outstanding attackers

Chelsea wants to sign Brentford’s highly rated Algerian winger Saïd Benrahma, as per new reports.

The 24-year-old has put himself on the radar with a string of breathtaking displays, his 10 goals and eight assists this season making the Bees the joint-highest scorers in the Championship alongside West Brom with 64.

That has helped Brentford move to fourth in the table and become an unexpected contender for promotion to the Premier League.

Notwithstanding, Benrahma could promise himself a spot in England’s top division paying little heed to that and another goal has been uncovered by a story in his country.

The player has recently been connected with Arsenal, Leicester City, Tottenham, West Ham and Crystal Palace and now Algeria’s La Gazette du Fennec state Chelsea have also made an approach.

The report asserts that Chelsea have held direct talks with the player, who has won three caps for Algeria, and are wanting to bring him to Stamford Bridge in the next transfer window.

Brentford signed the winger for £1.5million from Nice and now valued the player at £30million.

That is a big jump however comparisons have been made to his praised comrade Riyad Mahrez and his breathtaking displays this season. He has being nominated for the EFL Player of the Year award at the LFA.

The feature so far was his hat trick in the 5-1 win at Hull toward the start of February while he’d scored seven goals in 12 games before the season was ended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Chelsea, who are set to part ways with Pedro and Willian, are in the market for a winger and are believed to be searching for less expensive choices given the tremendous asking price for Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho.
