Chelsea in pole position to sign Kai Havertz as Bayern Munich and Real Madrid dropped out

Chelsea have been given a significant lift in their quest for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz.

Chelsea are leading the race to sign Kai Havertz after Bayern Munich and Real Madrid purportedly retreated from a transfer for the Germany playmaker.

The Blues affirmed the a £47.8m signing of RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner from RB Leipzig and hours later there is a news that both European giants had removed themselves from the running for Kai Havertz.

Reports states that Real Madrid are not keen on signing the Bayer Leverkusen playmaker until next summer.

Such has been the effect of the coronavirus pandemic, financially they are not in a situation to move for Kai Havertz.
