Italian Football transfer guru Fabrizio Romano in a recent statement spoke on Chelsea’s interest in signing Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia.

According to Romano, those in charge of the west London side are huge admirers of the Belgian international.

Lavia, a 19-year-old midfielder, who began his career at Belgian outfit R.S.C. Anderlecht’s academy, joined Manchester City’s youth setup in 2020 and was then signed by Southampton last summer for £14 million.

This season, he played a total of 27 Premier League matches for the Saints and scored one goal.

With Southampton relegated from the Premier League, the Belgian could secure a transfer to a top-level outfit, with Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United all interested in him.

“Romeo Lavia is a player Chelsea love. Chelsea have Joe Shields at the club, who is the director who signed Romeo Lavia for Manchester City’s academy and then signed Romeo Lavia at Southampton,” Romano told GivemeSport.

“He’s the man who has built the career of Romeo Lavia, so it’s normal to have this kind of link. They are pursuing the player, but it’s not the only option.”
