Why Man Utd’s Leny Yoro snubbed Real Madrid
Manchester United have confirmed the Leny Yoro as their second signing this summer transfer window.
Yoro joined the Red Devils from French Ligue 1 side Lille.
He turned down interest from UCL champions Real Madrid to complete a £60 million move to Old Trafford.
The reports disclosed that the Red Devils will pay just over £52 million upfront and £6.5 million in add-ons.
There were claims that Real Madrid was the 18-year-old’s preferred choice, but Man United were able to convince the Frenchman to join them he was considered a priority target.
Speaking after his deal with Red Devils was made official, Yoro in a statement on Thursday said: signing for a club with the stature and ambition of Manchester United so early in his career was an incredible honour.
He also recall his first conversations with the club’s officials and how they set out a clear plan for how he could develop at Manchester United as part of their exciting project under manager Erik ten Hag.
Yoro also expressed gratitude to the Red Devils for showing a lot of care for him and his family.
The Frenchman is expected to play a key role in Ten Hag’s squad next season when they compete against Man City, Arsenal Chelsea, among others.
