Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has singled out five players for criticism as he revealed they didn’t listen to his instructions against Crystal Palace.

Recall that Red Devils’ hope of playing in European competitions next season became more difficult after their outing at Selhurst Park as they lost 4-0 against Palace.

The Red Devils’ fall commenced with a defensive error in the 12th minute, allowing Crystal Palace to score.

The Seagulls’ Michael Olise seized the chance and effortlessly manoeuvre past Christian Eriksen, dodging a weak challenge from Casemiro to score a goal against Andre Onana.

During his post-match analysis, Ten Hag criticised the five players for their inability to follow defensive ‘instructions’ and adapt to the game’s dynamics.

While he didn’t mention names, Ten Hag while speaking with Sky Sports said Man Utd as a team failed because they didn’t follow their rules.

“We don’t adapt to the different situations to organise, to keep control in those situations. Five players over the ball and they have a throw-in, it is not possible,” Ten Hag said told Sky Sports.

Man Utd are at the eight spot on the league table and would hope to bounce back when they play against Arsenal in their next Premier League match.

Meanwhile, Man Utd still have a chance of ending the season with a trophy if they can win Man City in the FA Cup tournament on May 25.
