Saha names two players not assisting Fernandes
Former Manchester United star, Louis Saha has reacted to the Red Devils’ performance this term
Saha opined that the presence of Christian Eriksen and Kobbie Mainoo as a midfield pairing is not helping captain, Bruno Fernandes.
According to the former Liverpool striker, the duo of Eriksen and Mainoo are too far away from Fernandes in the midfield.
So far this season, Fernandes is yet to score a goal for manager Erik ten Hag’s side in 11 games.
Recall that the Portuguese was sent off in two of his last three matches for the Red Devil.
Speaking about the Portuguese midfielder, Saha told Paddy Power that Fernandes doesn’t seem to be as confident, stating that Manchester United’s tactics are a part of it.
Saha said Fernandes hasn’t been helped and given many passes by the wingers.
While he stressed that Fernandes’ work rate has been the same, the team aren’t, however, linking up as well.
He noted that Mainoo and Eriksen are good on the ball, but they sometimes play too deep and not close enough to the strikers.
“They are too far away and their positioning is not right – it is a struggle to watch,” Saha added.
