Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood has been forced out of international duty with England’s under-21s after sustaining an injury.

Mason Greenwood has become one of United best youngsters ever since he burst onto the big stage last season and he has been quite instrumental in the Red Devils squad.

His good form have also continued this season despite that he’s been limited and forced to spend the most time on the bench due to the arrival of Edinson Cavani from Paris Saint-Germain.

He scored United’s only goal against Leicester City in their FA Cup quarter-final defeat on Sunday.

However, an untimely injury has forced the 19 years-old to drop out of England’s under-21s squad ahead of the European Championship’s group stages.

According to Sky Sports, Greenwood’s recent injury has forced the youngster to withdraw from the squad, with Norwich City’s Todd Cantwell stepping in, in his place.

England’s first game of the illustrious youth competition, which kicks off on Wednesday, is scheduled to be against Switzerland on Thursday.

Although Sky Sports’ report does not detail exactly how the young striker has injured himself, it will undoubtedly come as a blow to club manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Hopefully, he would be back on his feet after the international break.
