Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has shared how sorry he was for Manchester United defender Harry Maguire after their draw against Everton.

Manchester United looked like a team ready to win the Premier League when they went ahead by two goals against Everton at Old Trafford.

However, two quick goals in the second half by Everton changed the face of the game before United responded with another well-taken goal.

Everton made sure the points were shared when Calvert-Lewin scored a brilliant equaliser with the last kick of the match.

Maguire and David de Gea were criticised for the roles they played in the goal and Carragher who remains one of the best defenders in Premier League history has come to their defence.

According to Carragher, United players were too deep and Harry Maguire has had a lot of criticism and the first bit of criticism, which he thinks is right because he’s a leader at the back, he’s got to decide where that line is.

The Liverpool legend who was speaking with Sky Sport stated that the line is wrong, it is wrong and the next piece that Maguire got criticism for is that he’s playing people onside which made him got sympathy for the England international.

Carragher added that Maguire drops off and as the ball comes in, he’s behind everyone, so he is now playing the Everton players onside.

However, the main reason why he has sympathy for him is that he can put himself in that position.
