Pogba reacts to claims that Man Utd plan to make him their highest earning player
France international and Man Utd striker Paul Pogba has reacted to claims that Man Utd have offered him a new deal worth £500,000 per week which would see him become the highest-earning player at Old Trafford.
The reports had gone viral on Friday that the Man United hierarchy had made one final attempt to convince Pogba to remain at Old Trafford.
According to the reports, Man Utd were prepared to make him the highest-paid player in the Premier League.
This comes as Pogba’s current contract with Man United will expire in the summer of 2022, and he has been linked with moves to Juventus and Real Madrid even though none of the two clubs have submitted a deal.
However, a spokesman for the French midfielder has now debunked the reports of a new contract offer.
The spokesman stressed that there have been no new talks with Man United since negotiations broke down months ago.
In a statement to the Daily Mail, a spokesman for Pogba said: “To clarify media reports, Paul has not been offered a new contract in recent months.
“Paul is fully focused on his recovery from injury with the aim of helping the team as soon as possible.”
