Former Man Utd’s star Rooney sacked at Plymouth

Wayne Rooney’s reign as Plymouth Argyle’s head coach has come to an end as he was recently sacked at the club.

Rooney’s sack comes amid Plymouth Argyle’s poor form so far this season.

As of now, the club are seated at the bottom of the Championship after a dreadful run of form.

Rooney’s exit was confirmed by popular football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, on Wednesday morning.

Romano in a tweet via his X, formerly Twitter, wrote: “Official: Wayne Rooney leaves Plymouth Argyle with immediate effect.”

According to Romano, Rooney’s exit was reacted after a mutual decision.

The former Manchester United star recorded four league wins and suffered 13 defeats in 23 Championship games after taking charge of the Pilgrims in May.

Plymouth will now have to search for a replacement for Rooney to lead them in the new year and the rest of the season as he leaves them at the foot of the table.

Rooney signed for Plymouth four months after he was sacked by Birmingham City following an 83-day spell in charge that brought nine defeats in 15 games.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the board of Plymouth Argyle Football Club,” Rooney said in a departing statement.
