Former Manchester United star, Dimitar Berbatov in a recent statement has compared Kobbie Mainoo to the club’s legend, Paul Scholes and other Class of 92 stars because of his maturity at such a young age.
Mainoo has so far been impressive for the Red Devils this season having made it into the first team under manager, Erik ten Hag.
Recall that the 18-year-old scored a 97th-minute winner for the Red Devils against Wolves in the Premier League last week and Berbatov believes the young midfielder is special.
“The goal he scored against Wolves was great because it shows that he’s mature beyond his years,” Berbatov told Betfair.
“Mainoo is a special player, but as with every 18-year-old, we must just let them play because at the moment, Kobbie is just enjoying football in its purest form and that’s what I like to see.
“You have to go back to the likes of Paul Scholes, Giggsy, Gary Neville, and when that crop of players broke through to see players so young seem so mature.”
