Liverpool on Friday confirmed the appointment of Simon Wiles as the club’s new U18s head coach.

The Premier League title winner made this known in a statement released on their official website on Friday.

Wiles arrived at Anfield as a replacement for Marc Bridge-Wilkinson following a spell with Manchester United’s academy team.

The 40-year-old coach’s arrival is a boost for the Reds as he comes with an extensive coaching experience in both youth and senior football.

While announcing Wiles’ appointment, Liverpool’s Academy Director, Alex Inglethorpe, expressed his delight to have the coach on their side.

He said via the club’s website: “Simon is a highly regarded young coach and I’m delighted he’s agreed to take a key role within the Academy as lead for the U18s group.”

Meanwhile, Newcastle United star Alexander Isak has reached an agreement with the Reds until 2031.
