Liverpool reportedly have 48 hours to sign youngster identified as Wijnaldum’s replacement
Premier League side Liverpool are reportedly running out of time in their pursuit of Porto’s attacking midfielder Otavio who has been identified as Wijnaldum’s replacement.
Wijnaldum signed for Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer after failing to renew his contract with Liverpool, and the reds are eager to sign a replacement.
Different players have been identified as his replacement, but the reds have been chiefly linked with Porto’s midfielder, Otavio.
The 26-year-old is one of Jurgen Klopp’s top targets this summer, and he has a release clause of around $48 million, which will expire at the end of the month.
Otavio’s transfer fee is set to increase to $71 million, starting July 1, according to Portuguese media outlet A Bola.
Liverpool are now eager to complete the deal before the deadline day, June 30, of the summer transfer window.
Otavio’s performance for Porto last season saw his market value rise, and he is willing to take up a new challenge despite being contracted with the Portuguese club until 2025.
The Brazilian midfielder had an impressive season with Porto in 2020-21, scoring five goals and providing 12 assists in 42 matches across all competitions.
