Jurgen Klopp reportedly eyes experienced centre-back as Liverpool summer marquee signing

Liverpool are looking like a team that might not defend the Premier League it won last season with the reds also struggling to book a place in the top four.

Injury to their most trusted centre-back Virgil Van Dijk has seen the team crumble and they are now reportedly interested in signing Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly this summer so as to avoid further destruction.

Kalidou Koulibaly have always been linked with numerous teams in Europe but none have been able to convince Napoli or reach an agreement with the Italian club.

The Italian club have always been willing to make profit from his sale but it has been suggested that he could be available for a cut-price fee later this year.

Covid-19 has reportedly affected the financial activities of the club and this has prompt Napoli into dropping their asking price for the Senegal international to €45m (£39m).

Though some big European clubs are ready to take this advantage, Bild journalist Christian Falk reports that there is a genuine interest from Liverpool who are willing to sign a centre-back.

Liverpool are in for a centre-back this this summer despite signing Ben Davies and Ozan Kabak during the January transfer window and have identified Kalidou Koulibaly as the chosen one.
