FA Cup: Why Aubameyang was absent during game vs Man City

Chelsea manager, Graham Potter, has opened up on why Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang missed their 4-0 defeat at Manchester City in the FA Cup.

Potter revealed the former Barcelona striker was unavailable because of a back injury.

Recall that Aubameyang was unhappy during the Blues’ 1-0 defeat to City in the Premier League on Thursday, as he was substituted as a substitute in the second half.

However, he was tipped to start the FA Cup third-round tie at the Etihad but was not even included in the match-day squad.

Potter said: “Auba felt pain in his back ahead of this one.”

The 33-year-old joined Chelsea from Spanish side Barcelona just days before Thomas Tuchel was sacked as manager.

So far, Aubameyang, who was once a star player at Arsenal has scored just one goal as he continues to struggle to impress at Stamford Bridge.
