Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has affirmed that Mateo Kovacic will miss his side’s FA Cup semi-final with Manchester City at Wembley on Saturday.

The Croatian midfielder suffered a hamstring problem before the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final with Porto, and Tuchel has ruled him out of contention for this game, so Jorginho and N’Golo Kante are set to start.

The Chelsea boss has no selection concerns otherwise, but he should conclude whether to keep confidence with Edouard Mendy in goal or recall Kepa Arrizabalaga, and the Spaniard will would like to proceed with his FA Cup run here.

Cesar Azpilicueta and Antonio Rudiger will both be eyeing starts in defence, but 36-year-old Thiago Silva has missed great opportunity in few matches recently due to injuries and suspension, so Andreas Christensen could earn a spot at the back as Tuchel hopes to keep Silva new.

Reece James is required to keep his place on the right over Callum Hudson-Odoi, however Marcos Alonso has a lot of experience playing at Wembley, so he could be turned in for Ben Chilwell on the left side.

Mason Mount is undroppable right now, but Christian Pulisic is another player that Tuchel should be cautious over given his new fitness woes, so Timo Werner is a condidate to start once again over the American, who played the full 90 minutes in midweek.

Tammy Abraham sits on the FA Cup goalscoring charts with four goals to his name, however the England international has become undesirable at Stamford Bridge, and Kai Havertz at long last gives off an impression of being finding his sweet spot after an intense start to life in London.
