With football players preparing for the various competition for their countries, former Arsenal star, Arsene Wenger has tipped Chelsea underperforming striker to win the player of the match during the forthcoming Euro 2020.
Wenger in his statement claimed Werner has what it takes to win the award.
Werner has struggled to perform for the Blues this season for Chelsea, scoring 12 goals in 52 appearances in all competitions for the west London club.
Wenger believes Werner will perform for his home country Germany in the soon to commence Euro 2020.
“I like the quality of his runs,” Wenger told beIN SPORTS.
“I like his movement, but he’s not… we see his conversion rate with the number of chances he has.
“He’s not good enough to say, but he will be absolutely the favourite to be the player of the tournament [Euro 2020].”
According to the schedule, Euro 2020 will kick off on June 11 – 11 July 2021.
Germany is in Group F alongside France, Hungary and Portugal.
While Wenger is expecting Werner to perform, they will however need to be wary of their group
As they belong to a group that contain some of the most dangerous groups during the tournament.
There are indications that Chelsea could loan out Werner this summer.
