Napoli confirm deal for Chelsea, Liverpool target
Napoli have affirmed the signing of Victor Osimhen from Lille, putting an end to Premier League move for the Nigerian.
Victor Osimhen delighted in a fine debut season with Lille in Ligue 1, and has immediately earned the next move in his career.
The 21-year-old striker scored 18 goals in 38 appearances for the French side. He scored against Chelsea in the Champions League, and there were rumours that it would not be his last goal against an English side.
Reports recommended Victor Osimhen was a target for the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool. In any case, Napoli had all the earmarks of being the main competitors from the start, and now they have their man.
In spite of cases that Tottenham Hotspur were attempting to hijack the deal, Napoli have signed Victor Osimhen on a five-year contract. The fee is purportedly in the area of €60m.
Victor Osimhen will take ex-Spurs striker Fernando Llorente’s number nine shirt in Naples. He gets one of the most expensive African players ever.
Liverpool were believed to be especially enthusiastic about the 21-year-old before his move. Jurgen Klopp supposedly requested the player, as he hopes to reinforce his title winning side.
The 21-year-old changed agents halfway through his discussions with Napoli, which could have allowed Liverpool to sneak in, but he has moved to Serie A as recently anticipated.
While the specific fee is obscure, Napoli have unquestionably broken their transfer record to sign Victor Osimhen. It was the same €38m they paid for Hirving Lozano the last summer.
Can hardly wait to put on this notable pullover, thank you for the warm invite Napoli, Osimhen wrote on Twitter.
