Chelsea beat Premier League rivals to complete the signing of Timo Werner

RB Leipzig superstar joins Chelsea on £200,000-weekly deal having been connected with both Manchester United and Liverpool recently.

Chelsea have affirmed the signing of RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner after Frank Lampard’s side beat their Premier League rivals to sign the star forward from RB Leipzig.

The talented young forward joins the Stamford Bridge side after they offered him a £200,000-weekly deal, having set off the £50million release clause that was expected to lapse on 15th of June.

Timo Werner had been broadly tipped to join Liverpool this summer, with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp a known admirer of the Germany forward, who has scored 31 goals in all competitions so far for Leipzig this season.

The Reds feeling the squeeze in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, they were hesitant to stump up the money to prise the Germany forward away from his country.

Manchester United were also connected with Timo Werner, but Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side were bested by Chelsea as Frank Lampard keeps on patching up his squad following the marking of winger Hakim Ziyech from Ajax.

Frank Lampard now has a variety of energizing attacking choices available to him as he looks forward to a trophies challenge on four fronts next season.

Timo Werner can play either as an inside forward or out wide, and looks well on the way to play on the left wing for Chelsea with England striker Tammy Abraham expected to lead the line.

Ajax Hakim Ziyech would play on the conservative with Mason Mount in a No10 role – while Frank Lampard will also have the option to approach widemen Christian Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi and striker Olivier Giroud.

Following the signing of RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner, Frank Lampard is expected to sign Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell, while West ham midfielder Declan Rice and Sassuolo forward Jeremie Boga also accepted to be on Chelsea’s radar.

Timo Werner scored 25 goals in 29 Bundesliga games last season, in addition to a further four out of eight Champions League games, while he likewise recorded 12 assists all competitions.

Chelsea would be a formidable team next season, the Blues now have young and exciting team to challenge for silverware and Premier League next term.
