France national team manager, Didier Deschamps has tipped Chelsea midfielder, N’Golo Kante for a Ballon d’Or award.
Deschamps in his statement stressed that the French diminutive player deserves to win the prestigious award.
Following his performance for Chelsea last season that saw them lift the Uefa Champions League trophy, Kante has been tipped by football fans as well as pundits for the prestigious award.
Kante won the man of the match during Chelsea vs. Man City clash in the UCL final in Porto, Portugal with the Blues winning with a 1-0 scoreline.
Deschamps in a press conference ahead of the Euro 2020 tournament stressed that Kante doesn’t have the record of a striker but he is a driving force.
”He can score a few goals, but because of what he does, everyone must have watched his last games, especially the Champions League final, N’Golo is also a driving force,” Deschamps said.
The French national team manager noted that Kante deserved to win the Ballon d’Or
He said, ”The Ballon d’Or? He deserves it. You know the criteria as well as I do, it mainly concerns offensive players. When there was a defender or a midfielder, it was because there was no attacking player who had marked the football year.”
