Édouard Mendy’s move to Chelsea is nearly done, this time nearly seriously. Nearly!
Édouard Mendy was seen leaving Rennes’ training ground on Friday, and it was expected that he was en route to Chelsea imminently for a medical and sign a contract.
That seems to have not been the situation, atleast not yet, particularly with a transfer fee clearly not yet agreed between the two sides.
The transfer fee is said to be in the range of €22m to €28m, with the most recent originating from The Athletic refering to “a source at Rennes” who guarantees a €20m base expense with a €5m add-on.
This would really be nearer to the absolute first reports of an expected arrangement, which guaranteed a £18m fee (Chelsea’s subsequent offer) with up to £7m in add-ons.
So €20+5m would be better than that, including another quill in the cap of Marina Granovskaia, however not certain there is room left for any more.
