Why Wolves didn’t get a penalty for Onana’s foul

The English Premier League has issued a statement where it cleared the air on why Wolves were not handed a penalty against Man United on Monday night.

Recall that Man Utd and Wolves went head to head at Old Trafford in their opening match which ended in a 1-0 win for the Red Devils.

However, a highlight of the match was in the closing stages when Man United goalkeeper Andre Onana jumped to get a cross, but instead collided with two Wolves players.

There was a brief VAR check, before referee Simon Hooper was told to continue with play.

The Premier League has now insisted it was not “a clear and obvious error”.

According to the BBC, “The Premier League has just told us that it was checked and cleared by VAR.

“It was not deemed a clear and obvious error so they stuck with the on-field decision.”
