Why Tuchel doesn’t want Ronaldo
Man Utd star and Portugal international Cristiano Ronaldo has been linked with moves away from Old Trafford, with Bayern Munich and Chelsea as the next destination.
However, the report via the Daily Mail UK revealed that Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is reluctant to have Ronaldo at Stamford Bridge.
Tuchel is said to want to play free-flowing football next season and implement a flexible forward similar to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side that won the Champions League in 2019.
The German is looking out for a front three of Raheem Sterling, Kai Havertz as a Roberto Firmino-style false nine and Raphinha, although the Brazilian is holding out for a move to Barcelona instead.
On the other hand, Chelsea owner Todd Boehly wants Ronaldo because of his marketability and goal-scoring skills.
But the report stressed that Boehly will let Tuchel have a big say in the signing of Ronaldo.
It is said that Tuchel doesn’t want a replica of what happened at Old Trafford one year ago when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans to use a front three of Jadon Sancho, Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford were upset when Ronaldo returned to the club from Juventus late in the window, which affected the balance of the team.
