Why Rangnick turned down Chelsea but now close to becoming Man Utd interim coach
In a matter of time, Man Utd will announce the complete deal of their new interim coach and Germany international Ralf Rangnick.
The reports revealed that the Red Devils have already reached an agreement with Rangnick and are only working out the papers as well as seeking the permission of Russian club Lokomotiv Moscow, which he currently managers to let him leave.
Rangnick will coach Man Utd for the next six months, after which performance at the end of the season will see him get a permanent deal to coach the club for two years.
However, a recent report revealed that Chelsea wanted to sign the German manager after they sacked Frank Lampard as a coach.
But the reports revealed that Rangnick rejected the opportunity to take over Chelsea due to the the length of the contract.
Speaking to The Times in February, Rangnick revealed: “I said: ‘I would like to come and work with you, but I can’t do it for four months. I’m not an interim coach.”
It was after they were unable to get him that they opted to sign Thomas Tuchel as their new manager.
