Why Jorginho was substituted during Arsenal win vs Everton
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta in a post-match statement has revealed why he substituted former Chelsea midfielder during their 4-0 win vs Everton.
Arteta brought in Thomas Partey to replace Jorginho in the second 45 minutes of the game at the Emirates.
A brace from Gabriel Martinelli and goals from Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard saw the Gunners move five points clear at the top of the table.
A look at the highlight from the match showed it wasn’t until Partey’s came into the game that Arsenal really took control.
Jorginho looked off the pace during the first 45 minutes against the Toffees, which Arteta has attributed to illness.
“I think the team grew, especially with Thomas, because Jorginho wasn’t feeling good today.
“When he came on he really gave us some presence and stability to the team and I think the second half was superb,” Arteta said.
