Why former Chelsea manager failed at Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur and England international, Harry Kane in a recent statement has compared the difference between Mauricio Pochettino football approach to that of Jose Mourinho.

Recall that Mourinho replaced Pochettino as the Hotspurs coach last season but he was also sacked after Tottenham dropped to the 7th spot on the Premier League table.

They also suffered an embarrassing defeat in the Europa League back in March.

Kane in his statement has now revealed why the former Chelsea manager failed at Tottenham.

According to Kane, Mourinho failed at the club because the majority of the players couldn’t meet up with his demand.

While Kane had a good relationship with Mourinho which helped him improved this season, the same could not be said of other Tottenham players.

“Obviously Mauricio we do a lot of gym work, it was a lot gym base whereas Jose wasn’t so much into that but Jose obviously expected us to be men and act like men on the pitch, have leaders on the pitch.

“To be honest, that’s probably where it didn’t quite work out with Jose we didn’t quite have enough leadership that we needed at the time,” Kane told Gary Neville on The Overlap when asked about the Pochettino and Mourinho’s approaches to management.

Mourinho will resume as AS Roma new coach next season.
