Why Cucurella doesn’t want to leave Chelsea
Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella is keen on remaining at the club amid transfers of many of the Blues’ key players this summer.
A report via the Evening Standard revealed the defender wants to stay put at Chelsea in order to impress new manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Cucurella, who was signed to Chelsea from Brighton a year ago and has made 33 appearances at Stamford Bridge.
He has, however, failed to impress as he is unreliable in the defence.
Considering Pochettino’s reputation for growing young players, the Argentine could turn on the likes of Lewis Hall as a replacement for Cucurella in his squad.
Should the former Brighton defender remain at Stamford Bridge next season, he could suffer from a lack of game time.
But the report claimed the 24-year-old is willing to take up the challenge and fight for his place in Pochettino’s first squad.
Chelsea are expected to sell more players this summer transfer window as they plan to trim down their squad and raise more money for Pochettino’s targets.
