Why Aubameyang, Lukaku, others are not in Pochettino’s pre-season squad
Chelsea’s new permanent manager, Mauricio Pochettino, has opened up on why Romelu Lukaku, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi were absent from his squad for preseason.
All of the players listed above have been tipped to leave Stamford Bridge this summer transfer window.
Pochettino, who had managed top clubs like Tottenham Hotspurs and PSG in the past, said the players and club are looking for how to handle their futures.
So far, Lukaku is said to be in negotiations to seal a transfer to Serie A with Juventus after Inter Milan dropped interest in him.
Aubameyang, who joined Chelsea from Barcelona, has been linked with a return to France where he could join Marseille.
Ziyech and Hudson-Odoi are also on the search for new clubs that would come sign them.
“When this type of decision is made, it is because all (the parties) agree.
“Players and club are working hard to try and find best solution,” Pochettino said.
